Feeling grey today and remembering the lyrics of this song from 'Annie',
"When I'm stuck with a day that's grey and lonely
I just stick up my chin and grin and say, oh
The sun will come out tomorrow
So you gotta hang on
'til tomorrow, come what may!
Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love ya, tomorrow
You're always a day away!"
Do you believe the sunshine ALWAYS comes out after a storm? Maybe not as soon as 'tomorrow'... I have lived long enough to see that life is cyclical. The sun does peak through the clouds eventually.
Writing about your pain and adversity is part of any good story line. It draws the reader in. We want to know how you got through it - did it destroy you or make you stronger?
Readers also want to see the silver lining - the moral of the story. Every story doesn't have a happy ending. But it does have a silver lining - or a lesson.
Even if it's "You have to find the grit deep down within yourself to win the fight, otherwise you will be defeated."
Consider what the moral of your story is. What is the most painful event you've experienced so far in life? What has it taught you? Did you discover how strong you really are?
