I woke up at 4 am this morning.
My alarm was set to go off at 5:30.
I knew I wasn’t going to be able to go back to sleep for that hour an a half.
I started thinking about what I could think about as I lay relaxed in my warm comfy bed.
I didn’t just want my thoughts to take over and jump from random thought to thought.
I began to think about how my most basic freedoms start with my thoughts.
What I choose to focus on.
What is my intention for this segment of time?
Knowing that what I think about influences how I feel,
I want to make sure my thoughts flow in the direction of my intention for the day.
A clear intention.
That hour and a half passed by in a blink.
I thought about what I wanted to create for the day.
And there were also random thoughts popping up, interspersed with my intentional thinking.
Our brains are like transmitters.
They pick up on existing signals - or patterns and transmit them out.
We are also able to create new patterns.
This takes much more intentional focus than simply allowing thoughts to randomly take over our dominant thinking.
Our time here is a gift ?
How we spend our time begins with what we focus on.
Our very lives are colored by our choices,
Beginning with how we direct our thoughts.
