What are your memories and holiday traditions for Memorial Day? I grew up calling it Decoration Day.
For as long as I can recall, on this day our family has decorated graves at the cemetery, gathered for a family photo and then enjoyed a picnic at a local park (nowadays we go out to eat). I have photographs of each and every year.
My own children are now grown and I have eight grandchildren. It's important to me that they know something about the people whose bodies are buried at the graves we visit and decorate. I enjoy sharing stories and answering questions as we visit the cemetery each year.
