I'm thankful for the pictures of life. Looking at photographs is helpful when you're trying to piece stories together.
I have a few letters my grandfather wrote to my grandmother in 1921. Their love story was amazing. My dad talked about his parents love for one another with great pride. My grandfather died before my parents married. I don't have any personal memories of him. All I have is photographs and the stories my dad shared with me.
Looking at photos of them in their younger years, imagining how they met and what life was life for them, transports me to another time and place.
What have you learned from photographs that you wouldn't have known otherwise?
